Studio Friday: "Toot Your Own Horn"

This is my first time participating in Studio Friday, the place where artists can meet online for a weekly creative challenge to reveal little glimpses of our magical creative spaces, our studios. This week's challenge is to toot your own horn and show off some of your own special work.

I'm not terrible comfortable at tooting my own horn, but here it goes.... I've picked my newest Jeweled Elegance necklace, "Mermaid's Pride", that I am just in love with. I had been looking at Arthur Rackham's illustrations for "Undine" when I designed this and I'm happy with how it captured the feeling of those illustrations. I know it will sell quickly, so I am immortializing it here as my favorite lovely.

Jeweled Elegance is in Asian Buzz!

Dai from Dear Monday happened upon some of my Asian inspired earrings while we were trading links :) and did an absolutely glowing write up about them entitled "Exotic Beauties" at Asian Buzz.

If you don't already know, this a great, well-written blog that showcases businesses that are run by Asians, cool Asian products, resources and events. I was raised in Asia and love reading it, so if you like Asian design and culture, I know you'll love it to!

It's almost time for the Fall Happily Handmade Giveaway! What is is the HHG? Indie artists and designers donate their awesome handcrafted products to fill 50 gift baskets. Each goody-filled gift box will be valued between $100.00 - $150.00. Past items have included clothing, handbags, bath & beauty products, jewelry and more. Pictures of this year's Fall gift baskets will be available at the HHG website soon!

Jeweled Elegance, like all the participating Indie Shops, will have a sign-up form on our website where you can enter the Happily Handmade Giveaway drawing to win one of the fabulous gift baskets. Autumn Jewels at Jeweled Elegance

Here at Jeweled Elegance, the new Autumn Jewels are finally up! We have some really lovely things for you to peruse. Our favorites are the "Autumn Spice" and "Butterscotch Toffee" earrings with their deep, lovely harvest tones that will go great with fall wardrobes. We also have new Y necklaces and a new category of handcrafted earrings: "Unique & Exotic" which showcases unique and more creative materials.

Indie Spotlight: Mixed Plate

From Hawaii, this is a great blog of random goodies by the multi-talented Liana. If you like super cool stuff (and who doesn't?), she reviews a lot of really unique quality indie products and shops. She shares gems of the indie world with a really witty writing style I think you'll like. She also features a "blog of the week" if you are looking for some new daily reads. Check out Mixed Plate for a daily mix of savory bite sized discoveries and commentary. You'll be glad you did! Liana also is the creative power behind On A Friday (jewelry and gifts) and the opening soon Punk 'n Pie.

Crafters for Critters

Here are some of the really cute items Jeweled Elegance just donated to Crafters for Critters. If you're not familiar with Crafters for Critters, it's a wonderful shop of indie designer goods where the proceeds are donated to various animal rescue groups. Every four months, three different organizations receive the money raised. One of the three organizations is always a greyhound rescue group. We just mailed off our donations today, so look for them in the shop soon!
