This week's Studio Friday is on favorite quotes and how they relate to you as an artist. I've always liked this one by Barbara Sher reminding me that in every moment of every day, a brand new opportunity dawns to live your dreams. Every morning is a chance to start anew. A chance to learn something new, to take a risk, to approach that gallery, to try that new technique. The only "mistake" you can make is to not start ... right now! It can always be Spring, the season of new beginnings, in your mind and heart.

Yarn Addiction

Have you ever walked into a yarn or craft store and been smitten by row upon row of gorgeous, pretty yarn? There are so many wonderful choices in today's market: Sparkly with embedded sequins, hand dyed in yummy colors, soft and woolly ready for felting ....... I am addicted to pretty yarn and my yarn cupboard is overflowing! So, I've started this year's Spring Cleaning in my yarn cupboard. First to be used up is a really pretty red wool. I've spent the week felting and embellishing these gorgeous poppy magnets. Aren't they cute!!

I also finished up this little drawer sachet and will fill it with scented and dried herbs. I suppose I should fill it with rose petals since it has a little rose embellishment, but I so love the smell of lavender in a clothes drawer. So I'm thinking lavender combined with ..... rosemary, perhaps?

Next? I'm thinking more pretty, floral things .... must be the influence of Spring!

Pretty Vintage Style

Finally! First we had the debut of our lovely crocheted hoop earrings, and now .....(drumroll).....the vintage inspired wood bird pendants are here! These have been individually hand painted from scratch and the wood artificially distressed and worn, so they really have that timeworn look of an old original. The hand drawn and hand painted images are original paintings exclusive to Jeweled Elegance.

You can find these sweet bird necklaces in our revamped "Vintage Inspired" jewelry category. I made a bluebird one for myself ("Happiness" in the boutique) and I am really enjoying it. It's fun, pretty and makes me think of Spring -- which I think has already come to Oregon. It has been just lovely here and all the geese have returned and the robins are out eating worms.
