Last year I started thinking of starting a blog featuring design that was really different. Design (or designers) that stood out from the crowd of conformity or challenged design precepts in some way. I even had a great name picked out for my blog -- "Design Magpie"!
Well .. a bunch of other great opportunities came my way and I had to put that blog project on the back burner, but I'm still thinking about it a year later so there must be something there that needs to get developed. This is my artsy/crafty/biz blog, but I regularly feature other pretty things besides my work, so why not some cool design? This is the first "Design Magpie" post! Enjoy!! P.S. I found this one courtesy of my dad :)
"Modern Toilet" is the name of a Taipei restaurant. It accommodates 100 seats each made from toilet bowls. The food is served in mini plastic toilet bowls.
Really different concept for a restaurante isn't it?The toilet rolls that serve for wiping hands and mouth are hung above the tables, which resemble glass-topped tubs. Completely bathroom themed from ceiling to floor!
Don't know if it would be a regular place to dine, but it would fun to try it once! And it would certainly be a great place to take visiting guests to for a fun and unique dining experience!

while i find this interesting...i am not sure that i could even think about eating food that is served in a toilet...no, i AM sure...there is no way i could do that!!! LOL:)
Ooh, how exciting. I'd definitely read Design Magpie. That restaurant is certainly out of the box. It got my attention. Though, I guess I'm not avant-garde enough to get past the whole toilet bowl thing.
How amazing!!! I love really unique places, no matter what it is that makes them unique.
I don't get grossed out very easily, so I think I could happily eat from a plastic toilet..I think!
Lets see some more Design Magpies!
May you should say a unique place to eat.
I've had to eat lunch while preforming Urine Analysis all over the counter and usually while chasing a warmed up frog that got loose. I'm not easily grossed out by bathrooms, but I don't want to eat in one everyday! Pretty unique place, I'd say!
what an interesting concept for a restaurant.......
Wow, that's very different! I've never seen anything like that before!!!!~
Enjoy your weekend dear!
Hmm I'm not so sure about this. Seems it would appeal a lot to men what with all the humor they find in bodily functions!

I love art and design that is outside of the box -- thank you for sharing these interesting and unique photos.

Oh my...I almost fell off my chair laughing. What do you think the health inspectors think?
I am so sorry, I am laughing so hard tears are threatening! I love the idea of your showing us far outside the box designs! This is way over the top! But, I have to pass, I could not, would not eat on or out of a porcelain throne!
Wow, definitely different!
I think my little brother would like that place ;)
Very unique, imagine the line of jokes you could run with while dining, the mind BOGgles! Rachaelxo
aww that is too much fun... inside and out!
What a funny place!! And being in the design industry, they have spent an enormous amount on plumbing fixtures (hopefully all brand new!!) My kids would think that was quite an experience, they should always stay busy with male customers as it fits right inline with male humor!! Not a place for a first date though, unless, you are dating a comedian...or a plumber!!! EEeek!
Thought of you this evening, Heather, when I got my FIRST pumpkin spice latte of the season!!!

Oh my gosh. LOL Not sure I could enjoy eating there! :)
Hehe that's awesome! It would be so weird eating on a toilet. And receiving food in a toilet style bowl lol oh my!
It would be so much fun though to go there and experience it.
And good blog topic.
oh my! I actually had a dream about this once... eating out of a toilet.. weird...
your nest pins are beautiful..
cliodhna: It's quite the unique restaurante isn't it?
And thank you for your kind words about my nest pins!
