"Meeting on the Turret Stairs" by Frederick William Burton
Valentine's Day: the day when people, esp. lovers, express their love by sending romantic cards, presenting flowers, engaging in intimate dining, or offering confectionery. But around here ... it's watching gooshy, romantic movies on TV while eating the aforementioned confectionary (usually something pink and frosted or dark chocolate, but cheesecake would not go unappreciated!) and smelling the lovely flowers :)
There are so many flavors of romantic movie: bittersweet ("Moulin Rouge"), classic ("Casablanca"), epic ("Titanic"), comic ("Bridget Jones’s Diary"), happily-ever-after ("While You Were Sleeping"), and so many, many more.
Our house leans heavily in the sci-fi/fantasy direction, so our current line-up for curling up on the couch with confectionery on our "date night" this week are: "Ever After" (great costumes too!), "50 First Dates"(this is sweet, cute and different), and "Groundhog Day" (classic Bill Murray).
What is **your** favorite romantic movie??

The one I can watch every time it shows up on TV is Pretty Woman...
or Message in a Bottle...
But my favorite now would have to be The Holiday & its scenery(the cottage in England...the bathroom...the stone...the kitchen...)or in Iris's (Kate Winslet)friendship w/ the legendary screenwriter...
I love Ever After so that is a must. I like to watch girly romantic movies like Never Been Kissed.
I might get The Holiday too I haven't watched that in ages.
Hmm...I might have to do a search and see what I would like to watch for Vday =)
I do wish we gave sweet little cards and other little items but we don't seem too. Maybe I should start that tradition.
Out of Africa -- can't help it, I'm a huge Robert Redford fan!

Well, "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" has a great, great forbidden love story in it. Just saying... actually it blew my sox off. It's the ol' archetypal struggle between the haves and the have nots, too.
Mmm. My favourite? That is a good question. Let me get back to you... lol.

Oh gosh...let me think. Probably the BBC Jane Eyre starring um...Stephen someone and Ruth someone..Can't remember their last names. I also love the 2004 movie Phantom of the Opera and the 1988 version of Beauty and the Beast starring Rebecca De Mornay. I also love the Jane Austin series! Of course the best romantic movie of all time is "A Walk to Remember". I cry every time!!
