I want to gush a bit about an exhibit I learned about while looking for this dress picture. "Fashion in Film: Period Costumes for the Screen" is a traveling exhibit features thirty-six exquisite period costumes worn by movie stars in major motion pictures, from critically acclaimed films Dangerous Liaisons and Sense and Sensibility to blockbusters Indiana Jones and Titanic. It looks like an absolutely dreamy exhibit! You can learn more about it here and here and here. Regretfully, it's not traveling anywhere near me. If anyone knows where I can get a hold of a beautifully illustrated exhibit guide with killer photos, I would be most grateful!
In other news ... this week the weather has finally warmed up and Spring is on the way! How do I know? Well, there are the tulips coming up .....But I've also been seized with the sudden urge to begin Spring cleaning. The great thing about doing a thorough deep cleaning is that you find all sorts of forgotten treasures deep in back closets. Look at this cute Japanese brush box I rediscovered! I think it makes a very nice tool caddy. And what's in that cute little drawer at the bottom?? Antique chandelier crystals!I think this repurposed box makes a gorgeous and utilitarian addition to my jewelry desk.
What treasures do you have around the house that can be repurposed and given a second life?

Sometimes Spring Cleaning is like Christmas all over again! It's so fun when you find these old "Lost and forgotten" items. Such a pleasant find...an opportunity to repurpose them in your new world! Thanks for sharing. Your beautiful brush box makes a lovley tool caddy for your creativity! :)
I was excited to see that exhibit was coming to California, but I think it is a typo. I looked it up and it is supposed to be Pueblo, Colorado. I would love to go to it. I love looking at period costumes.
I'm also excited about spring. My hyacinths popped up while I was gone this weekend.
i can't believe you have green things coming out of the ground...i am jealous...the exhibit sounds wonderful...i hope you can find a guide somewhere!!!
And here I am getting ready for, possibly, one of the worst snow storms of the season!
That's a darling box, and perfect for tools!
thanks for visiting my blog!

Love your little tool box :)
I like to try and clean and stay organised but it doesn't always happen. That is gorgeous your little box that you repurposed! It's lovely to find old things and make them new again.
I loved that dress she wore in Ever After and those wings *swoon* I would love to have a pair.
I wish we had exhibits like that here. I would love to spend a day looking at costumes.
I love that costume too! I love getting a chance to see movie costumes and always watch special features that show the designs :)
MGM studios in Orlando has the Pirates of the Carribean Costumes and they are grand!
Ever After is one of my favs! I think I need to pull that movie out this weekend.

Well, I am a sucker for costumes and sets. I was lucky enough to work on a few films and still doing plays when I can... the right lights on the right materials or colours, the right person and voila! A plain little dress or such can be transformed into something so magical.
Lovely post!
Have a great week and thanks for the spring cleaning shots.lol.
